Boy:   Did you go camping again this year, Jane?

Jane:   Our tent is too old so we stayed with my Aunt Vera. She lives in an apartment by the beach. I don’t like swimming but we went walking and horse riding a lot. It was great!

Boy:   Doesn’t your aunt live in the mountains?

Jane:   She moved last year.

4   What has Maria hurt?

Man:   Are you all right, Maria? What’s wrong with your neck?

Maria:   Ah, I’ve just fallen over in the snow and I’ve got a terrible pain in my arm, not my neck.

Man:   Give me your hand and I’ll help you up.

Maria:   OK. Thanks.

5   What time will Clare meet Jack at the station?

Clare:   What time will you arrive at the station, Jack? I’ll come and meet you.

Jack:   Well, Clare, the train leaves London at half past four.

Clare:   So you should be here at quarter to six.

Jack:   That’s right. It takes one hour and fifteen minutes.

Woman:   What are you doing today, Pete?

Pete:   I’m going into town to get a better lamp for my desk. Then I’m going to the repair shop – my CD player is broken.

Woman:   Do you think they’ll be able to make it work?

Pete:   Yes. I took my old television there. It’s as good as new now!

2   How will Nancy and Joe get to the sports centre?

Joe:   Nancy, shall we go to the sports centre by car or by bus?

Nancy:   I think we should walk, Joe. The traffic will be bad, and the walk will be good for us.

Joe:   I suppose you’re right. It’s not that far. Can we get the bus back?

Nancy:   Let’s see how tired we are when we’ve finished.

3   How much is the prize for the competition?

Girl:   What are you writing, Marco?

Marco:   It’s a story. I want to win a competition. I need three hundred pounds for my holiday.

Girl:   How much can you win?

Marco:   Two hundred pounds. I’ve already got a hundred pounds, so if I win, I can go.

4   What will the weather be like tomorrow lunchtime?

Man:   Have you got the newspaper there? Can you read me the weather forecast for tomorrow? I hope it isn’t going to rain for our picnic lunch.

Woman:   ‘There will be fog early in the day but it will go by the middle of the morning, with winds from the east.’

Man:   Great!

Woman:   Yes, but the wind will get stronger through the day.

5   What time will they leave home?

Woman:   Paul, when do you want to go? It’s seven thirty already.

Paul:   Be ready at ten to eight – we should leave then.

Woman:   You booked the table for eight fifteen, didn’t you?

Paul:   Yes, and we mustn’t be late.

Woman:   Excuse me, have you got any T-shirts for around £10?

Man:   We’ve got this one with a flower on for £8 and some with stars on for £7.

Woman:   I’ll take the first one you showed me.

Man:   OK, I’ll put that in a bag for you.

2   When is the girl’s swimming lesson next week?

Girl:   What time are the swimming lessons next week? Are they at 10 o’clock as usual?

Man:   Sorry, there’s a swimming competition from 9 o’clock and it won’t finish until 11.

Girl:   Will my lesson start after that?

Man:   Of course, all lessons will start as soon as the competition finishes.

3   Which bus stop does the woman need?

Woman:   Excuse me, I want to catch a bus to go to the hospital. Which bus do I need? Is it the one in front of the supermarket?

Man:   Buses go to the sports centre from there. The one you want is by the train station on West Street.

Woman:   OK, thank you very much.

Man:   You’re welcome.

4   Which is the man’s raincoat?

Man:   Excuse me, I left my raincoat on the bus. Did anyone find it?

Woman:   Let me see. We have a few raincoats. I’ve got one here. It’s long and has a belt.

Man:   Oh, mine’s short. I lost the belt, so it hasn’t got one.

Woman:   Oh yes, here it is. It’s your lucky day!

5   Which is the office manager?

Woman:   Is that the new office manager over there?

Woman 2:   Oh yes, with the short hair. When I last saw her, her hair was long.

Woman:   And didn’t she wear glasses as well?

Man:   Are you ready to order?

Woman:   The burger looks good. Does it come with anything?

Man:   You can have it with salad or chips. If you’d like both, it’s a bit extra.

Woman:   I’ll do that. I don’t mind paying a bit more.

2   What size boots is the woman going to try on next?

Woman:   Do you have these boots in a bigger size? I’ve tried them in a thirty-seven, but they’re too small.

Man:   Do you want to try them in a thirty-eight or a thirty-nine? I can get them for you.

Woman:   I think the thirty-nine will be too big.

Man:   OK. I’ll be back in a moment.

3   Where will the man get off the bus?

Man:   I’m going to the college. Where should I get off the bus?

Woman:   There’s a stop by the supermarket and another next to the park. They’re both near the college.

Man:   I’ve got plenty of time, so the stop by the park is best. I can go for a walk first before I go to the college.

Woman:   OK, I’ll tell you when we get there.

4   How many books does the boy want to borrow now?

Boy:   Can I borrow these three books, please?

Woman:   Let me see. You have already borrowed six books and you can’t borrow more than eight.

Boy:   That’s OK. I have two books to return as well.

Woman:   OK, please return those books first before you borrow any more.

5   What job does Mark’s brother do?

Woman:   Mark, does your brother still work at that expensive hotel?

Mark:   He’s still there but he’s not a receptionist any more.

Woman:   Really? Why not? He was really good at it!

Mark:   I know! He’s a waiter at the moment, and he hopes to be a chef one day, because he really loves cooking.
