I would like to describe one of my teachers who taught me at high school, who had a great influence on me and was the person who helped me succeed in my university entrance examination. Her name is Linh and she taught me English for 3 years of high school and was also my form teacher. She was in her late 40’s then but looked young for her age.

Tôi muốn miêu tả về một trong những giáo viên đã dạy tôi ở trường trung học, người có ảnh hưởng rất lớn đến tôi và là người đã giúp tôi thành công trong kỳ thi đại học. Cô ấy tên là Linh, dạy tiếng Anh cho tôi suốt 3 năm trung học và cũng là giáo viên chủ nhiệm của tôi. Khi đó cô ấy khoảng cuối độ tuổi 40 nhưng trông rất trẻ so với tuổi.

 

I was really influenced by the way she taught us in class. Her thoroughness in teaching inspired me to study English, even though I had not been interested in it before. We never felt bored in her classes, she always told us interesting stories about British and American culture and people, and also organized some games so that we could learn new vocabulary and grammar effortlessly.

Tôi thực sự bị ảnh hưởng bởi cách cô ấy dạy chúng tôi trên lớp. Sự tỉ mỉ trong giảng dạy của cô đã truyền cảm hứng cho tôi học tiếng Anh, mặc dù trước đó tôi không hề hứng thú với môn học này. Chúng tôi không bao giờ cảm thấy nhàm chán trong các lớp học của cô, cô luôn kể cho chúng tôi những câu chuyện thú vị về văn hóa và con người Anh và Mỹ, đồng thời tổ chức một số trò chơi để chúng tôi có thể học từ vựng và ngữ pháp mới một cách dễ dàng.

 

I remember that during the three months before the university entrance exam, which was the most important exam of my life, she had delivered some free classes for the students who weren’t quite up to standard, including myself. She patiently guided us through difficult questions and provided many useful tips to help deal with the test. Thanks to her effective teaching method and great dedication, I was able to pass the university entrance exam with almost a perfect score in English.

Tôi nhớ rằng trong ba tháng trước kỳ thi đại học, kỳ thi quan trọng nhất đời tôi, cô Linh đã dạy kèm miễn phí cho những học sinh chưa đạt yêu cầu, trong đó có cả tôi. Cô kiên nhẫn hướng dẫn chúng tôi giải quyết những câu hỏi khó và đưa ra nhiều lời khuyên hữu ích để làm bài thi. Nhờ phương pháp giảng dạy hiệu quả và sự tận tâm của cô, tôi đã vượt qua kỳ thi đại học với điểm số gần như tuyệt đối môn tiếng Anh.

 

Although I have graduated from high school and now study in Hanoi, I often visit her on the holidays and tell her about my daily life in the big city and she’s always available to give me some advice about any problems I have. I am forever grateful to have Mrs. Linh in my life.

Mặc dù tôi đã tốt nghiệp trung học và hiện đang học ở Hà Nội, tôi vẫn thường đến thăm cô vào các kỳ nghỉ và kể cho cô nghe về cuộc sống hàng ngày của tôi ở thành phố lớn, và cô luôn sẵn lòng cho tôi lời khuyên về bất kỳ vấn đề nào tôi gặp phải. Tôi mãi mãi biết ơn cô Linh vì đã có cô trong cuộc đời tôi.
